Position Description / Grounds Crew (Seasonal)

A.                Job Summary:

An incumbent in this classification is temporary and performs a variety of unskilled tasks in the maintenance and upkeep of properties and grounds such as: mowing lawns, pruning shrubs and trees, plowing snow, and lifting heavy objects.

B.                Principle Duties:

(A given incumbent may/may not perform all of the following duties.)

1.                  Carries away debris for eventual deposit in a dumpster bin.

2.                  Mows lawns, plant and prunes trees and shrubbery to maintain a neat and healthy condition and appearance, fertilizing as needed.

3.                  Removes snow from grounds and premises either by plowing snow blowing, of shoveling.

4.                  Uses a variety of small hand tools and implements, such as rakes, shovels, mops, pliers, hedge clippers, weed-eater and power mowers.

5.                  Sweeps parking areas and maintains in clean condition.

6.                  Performs other related duties of the class, as requires.

C.                Supervision Received:

The incumbent in this position received work direction or guidance from either a team leader or supervisor, such as the Grounds Supervisor.  Work is monitored in progress and upon completion.  Incumbent is responsible for reporting to leader or supervisor any unusual situation or condition coming to his attention.

D.                Supervision Given:

The incumbent in this position gives no supervision to others.

E.                 Abilities:

(An incumbent may be required to possess all of the following qualifications.)

1.                  Ability to operate gasoline driven equipment, such as power mowers or snow blowers.

2.                  Ability to read and understand written instructions.

3.                  Ability to follow oral instructions.

4.                  Ability to work in hazardous and unpleasant conditions, such as snow and rain storms, infested spaces, cold and heat.

5.                  Ability to lift heavy objects.

6.                  Ability to do manual work such as digging, shoveling, planting trees and use a weed-eater.

7.                  Ability to drive pick-up truck with trailer

8.                  Valid Kentucky driver's license.

Pay Range- $15.24-22.38
