How to Pay Rent

Forms of Accepted Payment: In order to pay your rent, please bring a money order to the office during our normal hours of operation. Credit Card and Cash Payments are not accepted. 

Due Date of Payment: Rent payment, and other charges if applicable, are due and payable in advance, on the first day of each month. Payment must be made at Farmers National Bank or set up through automatic debit.

Late Payments: Late rent payment (payments made after the 5th day of the month) must be paid directly to the Authority only in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, or money order. Late payments must include the late charge which is $25.00. Late payments must be submitted to the Housing Authority Administrative Office, or placed in the drop box located on the left side of the Administrative Office Building. No cash payments will be accepted.

Failure to Pay Rent: If a tenant fails to pay the rent, and other charges if applicable, by the due date, the Authority shall immediately serve written notice on the Tenant of the Authority's intent to institute court proceedings within fourteen calendar days for possession of the leased premises. A resident against whom court proceedings are initiated by the Authority, shall, if the Authority prevails, become obligated to pay all expenses incurred by the Authority related to initiating said court action, including but not limited to attorney fees, court and other legal costs due to processing said action, in addition to rent and other charges, i.e., utilities and maintenance. The total of all costs will represent the total monetary obligation of the resident due and payable to the Authority. Payment in full of all due rent, any subsequent months' rent, and other charges may be accepted by the Authority at any time prior to the actual court appearance.

Utility Allowance: Any utility cost above the allowance is the responsibility of the resident. For Housing Authority of Danville paid utilities, the Housing Authority of Danville will monitor the utility consumption of each household. Any consumption in excess of the allowance established by the Housing Authority of Danville will be billed to the resident monthly.

Repayment Agreements: When a resident owes HAD back charges and is unable to pay the balance by the due date, the resident may request that the Housing Authority of Danville allow them to enter into a repayment agreement. The Housing Authority of Danville has the sole discretion of whether to accept such an agreement. All repayment agreements must be in writing and signed by both parties. Failure to comply with the repayment agreement terms will subject the resident to eviction procedures.
